Definitely happy to help, stick me on the list of the willing . . . I wouldn't mind coordinating too if that is what is needed.

I think the way we should do it (IMHO) is to have one of the hostesses move up to be the coordinator since they've seen the some of the inner workings already. Once again, just my opinion but there is a lot of behind the scenes stuff that goes on and it would be nice to have someone that's been exposed to some of it.
That being said pm me if you're interested in being the next VSN coordinator. And I'll pick and pass the stampin scrub torch!

Oh yea, I, of course, didn't follow this rule so if you out vote me, that's cool too.

Future VSN question
I would love to participate in this, but Sat. nites don't work well for me. Is it possible to try one during the day Sat or Friday nite?
Just wondering.

Certainly... I believe that it is up to whomever becomes the coordinator for the event.

JULY VSN : Should we try a new time?
I've gotten a few messages asking about a new time for VSN. Some people aren't free on Fri or Sat nights, so they've suggested afternoon.
What do you think about this?

Afternoon, to be quite frank, sucks for those of us who have kids. There is just no way to stamp safely with a 2yo and a 11mo demanding your attention.
I seriously doubt Emily & I can participate in an afternoon event.

For people who work full-time (like myself) I don't think it would be an option, either.

You're never going to find the perfect time when everyone can participate. However what if you stretch it out over a longer period...say 12 hours. People can pop in and out and still participate. It would also give people time to catch up if they had to stop for a couple of hours.
Just a suggestion.

I prefer evenings, gives me time to get the family settled and fed, including myself. Plus its more fun in the wee hours when I start to get dilusional about ideas! And my DH gets a kick out of seeing me awake past 10pm too.

I haven't been able to participate yet b/c we happened to be out of town both weekends for the first two, so maybe I shouldn't "speak". But, I would have to agree with MamaK and Consuelo.

I agree with Consuelo. However, I wouldn't want you to be burdened with a 12 hour day for VSN. Why not split it up into different mini sessions? You could easily do this over a 24-36 hour time period. Then you could have large bonus challenges that people could work on all weekend, but still make the regular challenges be uploaded within 12 hours after they were posted to the group.

Yep, no dice for MamaK and I during an afternoon. Too many kidlets running around. Plus, my dh needs to be home to watch them and he works.

Daytime hours won't work for most people with kids.
Staurday and Sunday daytime are usually family time, sports games etc. I don't see as big of a turn out, especially in the summer.
Weekdays or weeknights would be awful for those of us who work.

I'm for keeping it on Saturday night. I have two kids (so wouldn't be able to participate during the day) and I also work full time M-F. I'm hoping to participate in July's VSN. It looks like tons of fun!

I agree with christyf! I loved the May VSN which ran from at 7:00-midnight CST. I also played along in June, and had tons of fun but starting at 5:00 was too early. I might be in the minority, but I would like to see a VSN run from 7:00 - midnight with 30 minute challenges and a few bonuses thrown in that would be allowed 12 hours to complete.

I think evenings are good, I don't mind the late night and would prefer that to the early evening hours, same reason as most, kids kids kids!

We also have to keep in mind that we are spanning over several time zones. So someone's afternoon may be someone else's evening.

Honestly, I think the time is good.. I realize the time zone thing is an issue and I think that 6-12 Central time is a better deal.. I know for those of us on the East coast it is until 1 but think about those in CA who miss the first hour because it is only like 4 pm for them..
Also I had a question/suggestion.. Don't know if this is the right thread but it has to do with time and VSN so I will post here... It seems like there is a divide on which works better the 30 or 45 min time period so what I propose (with insight from a fellow SCS member) is at the top of the hour post TWO challenges and then you have that whole hour to do them both.. I heard a few people say keeping track of time on the 45 min incriments was a little harder..
Just a suggestion.. Take it or leave it!

I like that suggestion very much!
Also, the weekend, preferrably Saturday, thing is better for me. I have older kids, but I work full-time. So the weeknight time is out for me. Also, I do realize we span several time zones, just in the US. I like the 6-midnight Central time frame. I realize that is only 4:00pm for the west coasters, but if we started at 6 their time, it would be 9:00 pm for the east coasters.
As someone else pointed out, we cannot make everyone happy/fit into everyone's schedules.
I'm looking forward to July's VSN because I couldn't participate in June.

I really want to participate this mongth, but would not be able to if we did an afternoon. My son is 10 months and he would never let mommy stamp while he was awake. Thanks, I know it will be a great time!

I agree - the June time was better on the East Coast because 11:00 p.m. seems to be the limit for creativity for many of us. Day is too impractical.
WRT timing - evn 2/hour would only give 30m per challenge - way too short IMHO for us less efficient stampers - too much pressure to be creative/have fun

??? How do you figure it is only 20 minutes per challenge?? My math still says if you split it evenly it is 30 min a challenge.. IMHO in May when we were forced to just stamp and not "think" I was able to come up with some more awesome cards and I am not an advanced stamper by any means..

I know part of the fun in the challenges is finding things to use in the challenges and that is fine. But my 30 to 45 minutes to actually think of an idea and create it would be SO much easier if I had a supply list. When the hostess knows what supplies will be needed maybe a master list can be given out a few nights before? I know this probably won't be a popular idea but for those of us without a beautiful scrap room and stuff all over the house it would be so nice!! Thank you for keeping an open mind about this.

I participated in the June VSN and enjoyed the time frame and challenge times. Saturday evenings actually work the best for me - I have the house to myself. I could not participate if VSN was held during the week due to my full time job. I am looking forward to the next VSN.

I have no kids so I can be flexible. You name the time and I will be there
Maybe we should make this a poll so that it is easy to see at a glance what the results are? Then even people who don't want to "write" their opinion might still vote and we can get their input too. Just thinkin, ya know;)

Saturday nights is the best I think so far. Any other time really sucks for those who work and who have kids, even older ones. Plus, weekend days families are usually busy. Both VSN time slots worked for me, my kids liked the June one better because they could participate more (but hey, that's what naps are for, right?).
We really should keep in mind all the different time zones that are involved. A 6:00 pm start in the central time zone would be 4:00 pm pacific, and Hawaii is 2 hrs (I think) behind that. So weekdays would really limit participation from the Pacific and Hawaiian time zones because of work schedules and families. Central and Eastern time zones would be able to participate.

Call me gumby...
I flex...
I can arrange child care for a weekday or weekend. DH and MIL are very understanding with regard to my stamping. I missed June due to my grandfather's funeral and am looking forward to July's VSN whenever it is.
I had a blast in May.
I think an actual poll is a great idea as well.

12 hour VSN
I like the idea of a 12 hour time span. That way it would accomodate more time zones. Those of us on west coast may not be able to start a 4:00 PT/6:00 CT but could stay up until midnight PST/2 CT and those on the East Coast could go to bed if they can't stay up that late. Maybe split the main hostess duties among 2 people, so that each person is responsible for 6 hours each.
I also like the idea of posting 2 challenges at the top of the hour. The fast stampers could try to do both and the slower stampers could just pick one of the two and concentrate on that one.
Unfortunately, I have not be able to participate in the May or June VSNs but I am hoping for July.

I like the idea of posting two challenges at the top of the hour and having that time span to work on both. The 45 minute increment was hard to keep track of but I liked that amount of time to work and upload. If the time zone thing is a big issue, the solution is to not worry quite so much about it but to work with it,, Set the hours from 5 to 11 Central or Eastern or at a time that is good for the hostesses, and then according to you time zone, work on the current challenges, if you didnt get the first ones done, tack those challenges onto the end of your time to do. (Example: If the time is 5 to 11 eastern, I am central and it would start at 4, I could work on that 5 o clock eastern challenge at 11:00 instead.) I know it would mean that we all arent working on the same challenge at the same time but the majority would be or try to be. Some of us did work on the challenges the next morning and this didnt seem to be a problem. We know the rules are to finish within the time alotted even if we are doing each challenge when it comes up and doing it the next morning and the judges can tell.
I do like extending the upload deadline the next day like to three. I felt very rushed to upload as I did the challenges and made mistakes. Next time I will complete the challenges and scan and upload the next day, but I worry about problems uploading. The server was so busy.
