I'm a SU demo and just got my first marker club started. We are going to be getting together four times and making a workshop out of our club. I would like to showcase all the different things which can be done with our markers, other than the standard coloring, of course. Would love to know what "technique" you've done with markers and how I can make them use them to their fullest. I look forward to your comments. Thanks in advance for sharing your ideas with me!
I just learned a really great technique....I think it might be called the Saran Wrap technique??? Not too sure about the name. Anyways, here is what you do:
Take a piece of saran wrap (a little bit larger than your card size). Take a marker and scribble a little so that there is ink showing on the wrap. Next spritz the saran wrap with a couple of sprays of water and then wad it up. Unwad the wrap and lay your cardstock in the ink/water puddles. Keep pressing the cardstock around in the puddles until your cardstock is covered in a really great water-colored looking background.
Another thing you can do of course is to color directly on the stamp with them, then huff on the stamp and stamp it. This allows multiple colors on one image.
Can't wait to see what everyone else does with theres. Good luck with your marker club!
Hi... there is also the "Thumping" technique. It adds different colors to the same image. Stamp or color with a light color ink and then with coordinating colored markers tap the tip in various places on the image, huff, and stamp your image on your paper. I really like using this technique when making fall type cards that have leaves with the changing fall colors on it. It also looks great using the Lovely as a Tree set. :o)
Similar to a previous post is Smackin' Acetate. Color on the acetate (window sheet, transparency) with the markers. Spriz with water then 'smack' your cardstock onto it. Depending on how much water was used, you may have to 'uncurl' it a little. Wipe the transparency clean with a paper towel and reuse it. I did this with the Wanda set (the one that talks about being 'hippie'). I drew large circles on the acetate in bright colors. Came out reminiscent of tye-dye.

For a lighter color, rub the tip of your blender pen along the tip of the marker & use it for coloring. You can also do the same thing with an Aqua Pen for a watercolor look.
Along with those great tips above, I'm attaching a tip sheet I give my customers when they purchase markers. I did not create this myself and am sorry I don't recall who to give credit to.
It may need updating for this catalog year.
