This is how I do them, modifying instructions that Caroline Stender developed. I was doing them the hard way, and then when she explained how she did hers, well, boy did I feel dumb. Her way is so much easier!
EDITED TO ADD: IF YOU ARE NOT LOGGED IN, YOU MOST LIKELY CANNOT SEE THE PHOTOS & INSTRUCTIONS WHICH ARE RIGHT HERE.
PLEASE LOG IN AND YOU SHOULD SEE THEM QUITE EASILY.
Oops! Sorry--here's the link to the FINISHED design these instructions were based on:
Also, if you do a search in the galleries for "latch", I would bet more samples will show up. I know I did upload an "Easter Latch" and it's in the Festive Four Gallery.

Holy wow! That makes it sooooooo easy. I knew I wasn't going to cut that latched part while still attached to the main portion of the card. Thanks for the photos.....methinks I can do this now!!!
Oh man, you don't know how happy I am that you posted this! I thought I remembered that Caroline posted directions but I couldn't find it, so was staring at my paper trying to figure it out. Ended up doing something different.
So, Julie, I think I got this right, but please tell me.....
Is your card a square one (4 1/4 by 4 1/4) and Caroline's is 4 1/4 by 5 1/2? I like them both. And I've been wanting to make more square cards- these would fit in the regular envies. I haven't ordered the square envies yet.

I love that paisley color combo too!
Yes, my design ends up being square after the first initial trim. But, you can grab scrap for the latch and make it Caroline's way, too!

Dangit! I want you to know I have TOTALLY resisted the Paisley background; not even the DD Gallery this month affected my resolve. But this ONE card has me planning to order it. It's the pink on orange...I never use my Only Orange and have wondered what to do with it and other very vivid colors. Julie, do you really want to hurt me? Do you really want to make me cry? Teehee.
Thanks SO much for these awesome instructions...can't wait to try it out.
Amanda

Beate beat me to it - but it bears repeating - Julie, you rock! So do these directions! And SU should be giving you and Leese a commission bonus for additional paisley sales. Got mine Friday. It's met the wood and ink. Samples (not on a par with yours, except in my wildest dreams!) to follow ...

imagine me on my knees, face down, crying out "I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!"
Julie, thank you for being so generous and not only sharing your design, but giving super cool instructions. I'm so glad you share with this site. Now I'm off to your webshots siteto see it you've added anything cool since my last visit.
I am new here and just love this card but can't seem to find the instructions that were apparently posted......what am I missing.....I'm soooo confused! This is a great site and I'm so glad I found it.......tons of inspiration. Thanks again~

EDITED: Okay, now I seem them in the OP.....guess maybe I wasn't logged in before when I was looking............DUH!
I copied the pictures onto a new document so I can save them with all the other fabulous ideas I find on this site. I was formating the document and highlighted the pictures so I could center them all. When you highlight, you get a kind of "reverse color" picture. Well, the card turned turquoise with green galore paisley...and the "delight" in white! It was beautiful!
HELP I'm brand new to the board. WHERE are the detailed instructions. The card is lovely so of course I want to CASE it.
Martie
Kindly refer to the originating post, the first in this thread, which features step by step photos that have directions printed right on the photos to guide you.

Thanks again (and yes, paisley is probably going on my next order.....I withheld from ordering it this month, but my willpower is fading fast ).

question
in your pic, after your trimmed off the 1" at the bottom it looked like your card was a square except for the back orange showing...
then in the last pic where it shows the back and front so you can see how to attach the latch, it doesnt look like a square anymore...I'm confused!
