Hi all, I thought I'd put in another plea for cards for the troops. My group
operation:quiet comfort (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/operationquietcomfort/ helps our wounded troops by making quilts out of old blue jeans (cut into squares and signed by groups) and making transition bags filled with personal care and comfort items. These are sent to the field hospitals (We have contacts at each one) and given to those soldiers who arrive before getting transferred to a hospital in the states. We include, among many items, in the bags get well cards, blank cards for the soldiers to send out and patriotic cards thanking them. I know that there are a few requests on these forums for cards and I make cards for them too. If anyone wants to help you can send your cards to:
Operation:Quiet Comfort
PO Box 263
La Salle, MI 48145
Thanks so much. We are trying to reach a goal of 100 "Go bags" a month and for each bag we would like to place at least 3 cards.
What kind of cards? I know my Demo had a daughter in Iraq last year and we collected 2 shoeboxes full of all occaission cards (birthday, birth, anniversary, miss you, sympathy, etc.) and sent over to them for them to choose. The greeting cards they get from the PX are really ugly from what her dd said. They really appreciated them. Is it the same sort of thing?

What we are looking for are either blank greeting/all occasion cards for the soldiers to use themselves; get well cards (either signed by you or blank to be signed by Operation:Quiet comfort; and patriotic cards blank or signed by you with messages of hope/comfort/get well/support/love - messages from the heart to our wounded men and women.
I'll try to get some together for you. I just sent out most of my blanks to another group. To anyone reading this, you may consider the next time there's a challenge, to keep this group in mind and make one for them! My son is ex-army and I know how much this kind of thing means.
