Default Watercolor Crayons?

I saw in the TAC catalog I have, Watercolor Crayons. I am wondering if anyone has used these, and what the difference between these and watercolor pencils. They look very intriguing to me.

Smile Watercolor Crayons?

I have watercolor crayons, and like to use them with more solid type stamps. I color directly on the stamps, then mist very lightly with water. You can stamp more than one image. Each one will be a little lighter. You can re-mist sometimes. You never know what you're going to get. It's a nice surprise, sometimes. I use watercolor paper sometimes. I hope you like playing with them as much as I do.

Try them with fish, or trees. Eileen

I have WaterColor Crayons by Lyra, not TAC. I have used them by coloring on 'solid' type stamps, mist and stamp...mist and stamp again. Sometimes I can get the 3rd stamping. Like ink stamping, each time, the image is lighter and lighter.

I have also used them to watercolor an image. Sometimes I've colored directly on the paper and then used a damp brush to blend the strokes. I have also taken a damp brush and dragged it across the crayon itself to pick up the color, and then 'painted' my stamped image.

In my opinion, if you like the 'washed-out' look, use watercolor paints/ markers/ pencils or chalks. If you like the 'solid color' look, the crayons are great!!

It all depends on the 'look' you are going after!!

The Watercolor Crayons are my newest love! If you look in my gallery you can see some cards I've used with them with the techniques others have already shared. If I were buying them again I would get the 24 or 36 pack instead of the 12.

If you host a TAC workshop you can get them for 1/2 price!

Ohhh I was wondering myself. Now I have to get them!

Thanks for one more thing on my must have list! ;)

The TAC watercolor crayons are made by Lyra. the 48 count @ $65.95 & the 24 count@ $33.95. Like someone else mentioned you can earn them as a 1/2 price item! Wow!

I love using water color crayons and didn't see anyone mention my method of use. I use the aqua painter and rub it right on the crayon then onto glossy or semi glossy is my favorite c/s to use it on.
I've had mine for about three years or longer and the tip isn't even wore off yet. I just load the brush with them still in the box so they never leave the tin they came in.
I linked a few cards from my gallery that I used them on.

I love those. We got to play with them at a convention earlier this month. I just didn't have enough money to buy the set I wanted and didn't want to settle for the smaller pack. I already have a huge pack of oil pastels.

Just a question -- I've been told by a couple people that some oil pastel crayons are pretty much the same thing as the watercolor crayons. I've also been told that if I use the oil pastels, it will ruin the stamps.

Does anybody know for sure? I guess I'm willing to try it on one of my non-SU stamps (that was so bad!?!)

Thanks in advance for any info - Linda T

(Oh PS - You can also mist the stamp first and then color with the crayon and it gives a more painted but not quite solid image, kind of like what they accomplished in Paint Prints, sometimes not all the paint sticks where you put it.)

Default thank you!!!

thank you all for the input. These sound very intriguing!

The question came up because I am having a TAC party - and was trying to figure out what to use as one of my 1/2 price items. This looked a potential good deal!

I think I am going to go for it - and order the big set!
