Default Home Depot fun

Here is a picture of the stamps I made using the plumbing miscellaneous packet of washers that I got the other day. Cool, huh!! One even has a little printing on it. It was quite sad when my DH and I were visiting the motor that we are having built for our classic car and I was scoping out the washers that he had hanging on his wall. Sheesh!! DDD has me looking in really wierd places for stamp material!

The rubber washers were mounted on adhesive foam with static cling backing that I use for my unmounted stamps, then stamped using my acrylic blocks. You could also just use wood blocks and mount them with glue. It was so easy and cheap (only $4.95) for the packet.

I sent my husband to the hardware store for washers.... needless to say he brought the wrong ones home. I should leave my craft room long enough to walk to the end of my street to the local hardware store...... nah, off to wander through todays gallery uploads.

These were in an "all in one" pack??? My hubby said that someone at Home Depot told him there was a set like this but they were out at the time. Where did you get yours?? Thanks a bunch for posting this picture--my DH is a visual kinda guy! The one with the letters is cool looking, would be great for collage!

I spent a little time in Home Depot a couple of weeks ago and bought some washers as well... finally decided on a couple, and returned the rest. I received a block from an SCS friend, and mounted my new 'stamps'.

One thing I wish I had done ahead of time was figure out what size circle punches I had and matched the size of my washers to them. It's great to be able to make stamped circles, but I really liked the faux tags I saw in the gallery. And you need a circle punch to make them really perfect.

So, back to Home Depot with my punches

I make a lot of my own stamps using the scraps from SU sets and was trying to figure a way to make circles. Now I have an answer and what a great idea. My husband and I were just talking about your idea and he just kinda laughed at what we women can come up with for stamping. He cuts my wood for all the ideas I do come up with, has given me his drywall tape and even gave me some O rings a while back thinking I could use them, so I already have a start on your idea, just fabulous! Thank you so much!

Ohhh you guys made me think...of "O-Rings" and they are actually rubber-y they were black last time I saw one. Ask your mechanic.

I have been saving all the colored id rings from my family's Target prescriptions, but I haven't made them into anything yet. I think I did use one to stamp in Versamark, emboss, punch out - sort of a homemade metal edge tag (and I'm pretty sure that was inspired by JulieHRR...).

I have 2 or 3 sandwich bags full of the trimmed rubber from my SU! stamps...I figure SOMEDAY I will turn it into something.

Just goes to prove how creative we crafty ladies are. This is a great way to create a card. I've never thought of washers. I haunt the paint section and grab paint chips to use. Here's one card I made from supplies from Lowe's paint department.
