I just got one of these in the mail from a friend. They make great little gifts and cards all in one, thus their other common name of Box Card.
Directions for a 2x2x2 box-
Box Bottom: Take a 6x6 piece of cs and score every 2 inches in both directions. The score lines will create 9 squares on your cs. Cut off each corner diagonally to make an 8 sided figure. Fold along each score line and tuck the corners in to create your box. (You can score the corners ahead of time by going out from each corner of the center square to the corners of the larger square before cutting them off.) Decorate your box and embellish. The bottom of your box can contain layers and a greeting.
Box Lid: Take a 4x4 piece of cs and score just shy of 1 inch on all sides and fold. You will have 4 little boxes in each corner. Cut along just one of the score lines until you reach the next score line on each corner. Now you will have flaps that can fold inside and hold your lid together. I recommend you use Sticky Tape or something strong as monoadhesive will not hold this together well. Decorate before glueing together.
Now you have a great box that explodes into a card when someone opens it.
I can't wait to see your postings. I won't get a chance to post my own until later in the day. But here is a link to one in the gallery.
I was asked to start posting these challenges again weekly. I hope we can gain more interest with this second round. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

I would like to try these challenges, but I can't seem to find them except from links that other people post. Is there some place that they are all listed like the technique/sketch/limited supply challenges? I'm gonna try make one of these boxes now....off to play...

Michelle-- great challenge! These boxes are wonderful! The ones I made are totally CASED from showmestamper (thank you, Beth!), but I decided to go ahead and post them to give this thread some more exposure. I couldn't believe how easy these boxes were to make!! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers Gallery at Splitcoaststampers Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I finally did one of these projects and I'm so excited by how easy they were to make and how much the kids in the class loved making them !!! Thanks for sharing the ideas and sorry that I couldn't find this when I was posting because I didn't post these correctly. Anyway, here are my links:

I made my first 3D!
I made my first 3D and first exploding box. Now I have to figure out how to upload! I really enjoyed making this box. I am going to send it to my grandma. She is going to love it. Thanks for having this challange! Can't wait for more challanges!
Wow! That was so much easier than I expected it to be. What fun! I made one, but don't have permission to upload. :( Hopefully once all the final changes take place, I can get it uploaded!
ETA: I just added my pics as attachments. I hope that's OK.

I made one yesterday that I was *so* proud of and on my way to take a picture I stopped by the kitchen and ended up splashing chicken soup on it!!! I was heartbroken! I really was proud of it.
