I made this card and it is bright and colorful as you would imagine a card with yo yo yellow, real red, and tempting turquoise would be. But you see how it scans. I paid $50.00 for this scanner years ago. Would a newer model do better? I don't want to pay more than $100.00 tops. Any brand suggestions?
Your card is cute as can be! If you need a new scanner then I do too and I have one. My scanner doesn't pick up colors well at all. Light colors are really bad. Maybe I don't know how to adjust the color quality but it drives me crazy. If you find a good one let me know! I have an HP 5510 all in one. I don't like it for scans. I had a lexmark all in one and it seemed to scan a little better, but printed crummy. I used to have a kodak and it was fine. Maybe an HP photo scanner would be alot better. My neighbor has one and she prints her photos on it and they are really good. It was fairly cheap ($179.00) but came with a digital camera. I have seen them for less than $100.00. Good Luck!
Epson has some great scanners! They have a couple at right around $100, and this one, the Perfection 2580 Photo (lists at $149 but there's a $20 rebate), also scans slides and negative strips.
You might want to check all the settings on your scanner. My scanner has different levels of "quality" scanning. I have mine set to the best photo quality. Sometimes the default setting might be set to produce a lower resolution scan that isn't the "best" quality it can produce in an effort to scan it quicker or save it to a lower file size.
Another suggestion would be to go to Office Max or Office Depot and talk to the onsite computer/scanner techie. Find the scanner that you own and ask him to demo the quality on it - maybe you could even bring along a card to scan and see what it looks like. Then he could tell you a different setting to try or tell you how to make adjustments.
I agree. Check your settings on the scanner before buying a new one! Dawn
 The picture seems CLEAR enough. It's only the colors. Most scanner software has choices like:
? Black and White text
? B&W Photo
? Color photo
? Magazine
? Combination
I am pretty stupid when it comes to computers so I am going to have my DH check into the settings. I do have it on the optimal color setting. My avatar is very fuzzy but my scan here is not. It is the colors that look very muted where in person they are very vibrant. Great suggestion about going and getting the professionals to demonstrate their scanners. I did this with my printer for my digital camera and was actually happier with the cheaper HP than the more expensive Epson.
