Question HELP !! With a waterfall card technique!

I'm in a 6 x 6 recipe swap and trying to figure out how to do was a pain. My DH actually said why don't you make it like a waterfall card with each direction on one of the pieces that flip! I think it's a great idea and I typed up all my stuff and sort of have a layout. Now my question is what size should my strip and where should it be scored so that it fits the 6 x 6 paper and not look funny? I don't know how to adjust the paper size from doing a card. Please help ... they are due at the end of the month!!

Thanks in advance!!

Wink Calculating Waterfall for 6X6

Look at your "new" squares. Measure, then set up a proportion (I teach math at middle school)

Standard waterfall proportion is .75/2 where .75 is the fold space and 2 is the square that is cut.

The "New" waterfall would be x/your new square size (call it y) thus x/y.

Solve proportions by cross multiplying so

.75/2 = x/y then cross multiply .75y = 2x (but remember, you know what y is)

then solve for x

Yes, I'll check back in a few for your measument and do the math for you, I promise (I'm doing lesson planning - not stamping =( today anyway.

Waterfalls are generally my show-off cards of choice (I made 5 between 6-7 this morning!)

Red face

I sent you a pm but I think I may have given you the wrong info. By new squares do you mean what I am actually putting the directions on? (The flippy squares) or the square that goes behind that OR the actual 6x6 piece of paper?

I'm thinking of putting a header across the top and the put the waterfall part a little off center to the right. Then the ingredients on something diagonally off center to the left.

I guess I need to know the length of the entire pull part and then where to score that. I just think the normal 2"x9" is too short.

I'm so confused right now LOL! I need to brush up on my algebra skills!!

Wink 6x6 Waterfall

I made a sample - It is a bit monomchromatic, but it works!

The "long" piece is 2.5"x11" and the scores are at 2.5" and 3 sets of 7/8" thereafter. It goes from one end to the other of the 6x6 piece, but I took 3 pictures and hopefully you get an idea of what you get out of at least one of them.

Good luck and happy stamping!

(I'll have to remember this when I break down and start the recipe thing!)

Let me know if there is anything else I can do. Thanks for helping me to think outside the box!
