These are so neat! Already downloaded and saved the file, now to make some. These seem to be really easy to do---and look so cool! Oooh, and imagine using glitter or microbeads on the vellum. How cool would that be?!?!?
TFS!

Thanks for sharing this. They are very pretty. I was wondering if you can save the template in Pdf file so we can open with adobe? I need a template. I have issue with directions when it comes to following them.LOL
I would really appreciate it.;)
I believe you are right, except for the strip that goes around the top of the luminary, and simple directions for that are in the Word doc. TFS the template, GarnetJ, as this makes it even that much easier to do!

Thank you so much for the template. I saw the picture in the gallery and immediately wanted to make some. I'm glad I saw the link to the template and instructions!
I tried this tonight, and I must say that is pretty cool! Thank you for sharing. But I have one question: How did you get your squares to match, and to be straight? I just can't seem to get them straight. I'd love to hear some tips!
The best way is to use a square punch. Next best is to measure and then cut with exacto blade. It might take some tinkering. I usually just eye mine up for accuracy. Sorry I can't be more help.
With or without a punch, here is a trick that helps me when cutting out anything:
* Print the template on "scratch paper."
* Staple the template to the cardstock. Use plenty of staples -- all in places that will be cut off, but do not staple where a punch will be used. The punch won't slide over the staple.
* Use a ruler to score where the folds will be. (if you don't have a scoring wheel, save an empty ballpoint pen)
* For this pattern, punch out the squares before cutting the rest.
* Cut with scissors or use X-acto knife with a ruler.
Thank you, that is a great tip! I use my square punch but I can never "see" good enough to see if it's straight until I've already punched. But I like your idea. I might even use repositional adhesive rather than the stapler!

I was never able to open the template for the rim. Would it be possible for you to send the template to me at [email protected]
I just love the idea.
If you do not get an email from someone else, here is the idea... Rim is 1 wide. Length would be the size of your luminary x4 . (For instance, if the luminary is 2 inches wide, cut the rim 8 inches long, or if your luminary is 2.5 inches wide, cut your rim at 10 inches long.)
Scored at intervals the same width as your luminary. Score down the center length. Cut out small "V" portions at the bottom of the short score lines and also at the ends just like in the picture. (Hope you were able to download the first instructions with the lovely pictures) Place eyelets at the ends so your rim can be secured with ribbon when you attach it to the luminary. Fold rim at the score lines.
Hope this helps.
Thanks everyone for all your ideas! Wow I got more help then I had expected. This was exactly what I was looking for!
Now to get busy and make some. Do you have pictures of the ones you have made?
Thanks so much
Yvonne
Have you ladies seen the battery powered tealights? My demo made me one of these luminaries and used the battery powered tealight for it. NO POSSIBLE FIRE. IT is so neat!
