This 3D Project Challenge is Pop Top Cans. These little cans (fruit, soup, dog food!) are the ones that have a pull tab at the top. What we are going to do is open the BOTTOM of the can with a safety can opener, empty the contents, wash and dry them, and then refill them with little goodies and stamp up some neat wrappers for the can. When the lucky recipient gets the can, s/he can open it by pulling the top off to find their treat inside. They will wonder how you got those M&Ms into that sealed can!
Here's some inspirations:

On a yahoo stamping group, Kathie McGuire posted some samples made with dog food cans. They were adorable, and got many requests for directions. She shared them with the group, and graciously agreed to allow me to share them with you. Please note that her directions are copyrighted. Thank you so much, Kathie!

Begin with a Pop-Top can that has a rimmed bottom. The rim on the bottom edge of the can looks similar to the rim at the top edge of the can. Some cans are molded to the sides at the bottom and WILL NOT work for this project.
Remove the bottom with a Safety can opener (WalMart for around 7.50. Also sold through Pampered Chef {price unknown}, a home party type company).
Remove the cans contents and paper label. Clean and dry the can and can bottom.
Measure the circumference and the height of the can to prepare paper stock for a new label. If youve carefully removed the old label, use that as a measuring guide. As a note, I make my label a little bit longer (circumference direction), so that when I wrap it around the can, Im adhering paper to paper at the very end of the wrap. Makes it a little more secure.
Cut paper stock and embellish and decorate.
Adhere the new label to the can with a super sticky tape (no exaggeration here, it needs to be super duper sticky. Terrifically Tacky Tape works great~sold at arts and crafts stores and various other stamp companies (I know Stampin' Up! carries it since I am a demo). What does NOT work is regular two-sided tape. Nor does carpet tape work. Ask me how I know this!!).
Fill the can with a gift of your choice.
Reattach the bottom of the can with a silicone glue. My favorite is E-6000. Available at craft stores, hardware stores, and WalMarts for about 3.50 for a 2 oz. Tube. Its stinky so dont expect a lovely smell, but this stuff is a miracle product for adhering non-porous surfaces together. I apply 5 or 6 dots of the glue around the bottom piece and then smooth it around with my finger. (If youre squeamish about getting the glue on your fingers, wear gloves. I brave the project with an uncovered finger so perhaps Ill grow a third eyeball someday ;- o). Stick it back on the bottom of the can and place a heavy object on top of the can to aid in a good glue seal. Allow several hours drying time and youre done!
NOTE: If you want to add ribbon, raffia, string, cord, etc. a 24 length is just the perfect amount to go around the can with a sufficient amount remaining to tie a bow!
ANOTHER NOTE: If you plan on layering other images onto the base label~be sure to rivet that image onto the first layer in some way. I often use eyelets or brads. Heres why: when the cardstock curls around the can, that second layer has a tendency to pop off. Also, dont adhere the image with Monoadhesive or glue sticks. Paper Cement works best for me (made by the same folks that make Rubber Cement~available at Michaels all the time in the glue section of the store.)

Here are a few other tips that I have gathered from reading previous posts about this topic:
Crystal Effects does a wonderful job of adhering the bottom back to the can, and does not smell. The odor of other glues can be an issue if you are enclosing food items in the can.
Allow me to reiterate Kathie's remarks about not using mono-adhesive to try to adhere the wrapper around the can. It is just not strong enough.
