This is a new thread following the Another SCS Gathering? poll.
For those of you who missed it, we are putting together a gathering for any scs sisters (or brother) who would like to meet each other and stamp together in Washington, about 20 minutes north of Seattle.
Judging from the response so far and availability of locations, it looks like the Washington SCS Gathering will be taking place on a Saturday in late February or early March of 2006. Please take this new poll so that it can be tailored to people's wishes.
Option 1: An almost all-day, great seafood (or chicken ) luncheon overlooking the water in a very nice restaurant reserved for us. This would be a swap only, not a shoebox swap, since that would get too messy! This would be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. when they open the restaurant to the public. There are a couple of very nice hotels in the area if people are staying overnight. Cost about $40 including tax and tip, choice of 2 or 3 different entrees and desserts.
Option 2: A shoebox swap at an old (rustic;)) community center near the water with catering from somewhere (?). From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost about $20 depending on the food.
Option 3: Day at the farm! A shoebox swap in a barn at a really cute farm. A little bit in the boonies, but great atmosphere! This cost still needs to be determined. I'm estimating about $20.
Option 4: Shoebox swap at the very nice hotel that I mentioned in the other thread. This would be all day in their conference/ball room. Nice meal, cost about $30 depending on the meals chosen. A good room rate for out-of-towners.
Options 1, 2 and 4 would be in Mukilteo. Option 3 would be in Snohomish.
If these options aren't appealing at all, please comment below.
Hi, Jennie. Thanks for working on this. I'll forward the link to my SU friends. I'd prefer option 2 or 4 but would be willing to go with opt 1 also. I just think we could end up pretty noisy and could be disruptive to others at the restaurant.
Hi Jennie!
I am a friend of Novell's and would be interested in a stamping get together, preferably in Mukilteo which is a bit closer. Can't wait to meet you!

Yea!! So exciting! It will be great to meet Novell's friends. I can't wait!
Oh, and the restaurant dining room would be reserved just for us for six hours (until they had to open it up for dinner). That would be awful for others trying to have a nice meal, being surrounded by all of these wild stampers. LOL
I rather like the idea of a Shoebox Swap (have never done one before, but first time for anything and everything is a good motto). Sooo -- I will not vote in the poll -- #2 or #3 or #4 are all fine with me.
Question: Is the barn heated? I am guessing it's one of those cute little places where they do children's field trips, pumpkin patch etc.

Reason: add question
I am game for 2-4....I would rather do one of the cheaper options. Driving up and back is already going to cost at least 60 bucks for me......but you all are worth it!

Honestly, I have no idea! I could find out, but it looks like that option is going to lose anyway. The times that we have been there, I don't remember being cold. Hmm...
I'm not sure what a shoebox swap is, but if Novell and company are going to be there, so will I? What resturant are you thinking of?
The shoebox swap is where everyone prepares all of the materials for a project (usually a card) and puts them in something like a shoebox to be worked out of. That way, you get to try lots of neat techniques and you don't have to assemble 30 of the same item, like in the regular swap.

How sweet!! Yes, we are definitely going to try to keep the cost down.
I was thinking that pot-luck would be out of the question. Too much trouble, but maybe it's not. That would really help keep the cost down.
Well, JeannineK has come up with a great get-together in January! Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Because of this and all of the other events going on January-March, I am not going to plan a spring gathering in WA. Hopefully, everyone can go to at least one of the happenings: Leadership, January shoebox swap, Las Vegas Regionals, SoCal gathering,... I really can't wait to meet other scs'ers!
Hope I didnt step on any toes. I was thinking of more like its an option to have a FREE place to stamp. It would be nice to see/meet others in my area.
If your intrested follow the link and sign up! :O)
